This is gonna be fun...

Went up to SR recently to visit the dudes at Buckhead. Always a good time! The jumps are getting the final touches, Jerm has been blastin' the first few sets, as well as Mr. Silva. Recently added the final touches to the Jerm interview for Ice Cold#9. It's gonna be pretty cool - large units, Cadillac headers, oh Chevy - same deal, right?

Watch out for the flying bowling ball!

Party Time - Sellout - Employed!

As mentioned before, this past Sunday (February 14th) a show was held at 99 6th Street in Santa Rosa, CA. With a good number of bands and some sunny weather during the day it was sure to be a good time.

(Comadre)

My day started off nice and mellow. First it was short jaunt on the road bike. With my back giving me troubles lately (anyone see the back check, here? Ooo... Eww...), I've been trying to find some new ways to exercise. For those that haven't tried other forms of cycling, I highly recommend and encourage you give it a try. After the ride was finished, and one free-lunch care of my pops - thanks pa, it was back to SR to prepare for the show.

(The table...)

While at the show, I had my small table set-up. Maybe how Jason addressed 'New frame companies' with "They should've done some market research before...", I should've addressed 'New zines', ha-ha! Did you know Van Gogh only sold paintings to his brother while alive? I recently learned this fun little fact while browsing the world wide web. In any event it was great to distribute zines amongst the great crowd that came out to the show!

(Sabertooth Zombie)

(Sabertooth Zombie)

(All Teeth)

What an awesome night. Big thanks to: Mike B. & All Teeth, Sabertooth Zombie, Comadre, Litany for the Whale, Defeater, Celeste, Odyssey, Mutiny, PicDit, and everyone that came out. I'll leave you on a positive note... I have a job(this zine is not a job...) again!

Running a zine you don't see a lot of cash...

But you sure do see smiling faces. Thanks to everyone that took a copy of Ice Cold #5 (Big thanks to Jack & others that paid... $4 towards #6!) tonight while at the show. Look for some blurry photos to appear within the next week or days.

In the mean time, enjoy the following from Mutiny.

I hope to have this up and running soon as well. With a various collection of zines lately, I decided to start posting little reviews. So if you make a zine drop me an email: spoonsparty@gmail.com

Issue #5 - SR Skatepark -

With a weird and wacky Saturday the sun decided to show its face and fight off any rain clouds. The night before was filled with a good storm and pouring all night. Then come morning though... Boy do I wish I wouldn't have canceled the event now, such is life.

I did however go out there, as a birthday present to myself. Turning a quarter of a century year old and then deciding to ride your local skate-park (which you never got a hang of to begin with...) was a little intimidating at times. Maybe a few more frequent trips would prove to be beneficial?

In any event the locals shredded the park. I am drawing a blank on the names. But countless others were having a blast around the park. In and out of the transitions, gaps, and the best... table tops.

I looked for some video and found this:

I like the feel to the video. I've also seen another video of Ruben riding the park on a visit. During the video Ruben brings up a good point of the graffiti, and the difficulties of riding a slick surface. I didn't find this too bad, I did find my back however to be a problem. The reminder of the past surgery is always there and seems to shows its head the wrong time. Recently I've been having more issues with it. Never a good thing, but I still did manage to have my fun. I think some more trips could prove beneficial... maybe just starting slower.

Big thanks to my buddy Ian for coming to town. Riding with you is the best buddy.

Party is moved - The Canyon - Political views of a 19yr old, Save me now!

With a call for rain in the forecast on Saturday, January 30th, I had been contemplating postponing the BBQ and JAM. After talking with my good friend Mike B. about an upcoming show in the Santa Rosa area, he informed me it would be great to release the zine there as well. What does mean? Well the skatepark jam will happen when the weather is little less gloomy. The raffle is still on! I'll have a table set-up at the show with raffle tickets and zines for sale, free zines, free posters, and some stickers! Hope everyone enjoys. My apologies about the last minute change in location. I hope you all can make it! Also with this being said, I will still be at the skatepark for a few hours tomorrow. I'll have zines and few giveaways on hand!

Sasquatch Canyon has had some awesome updates as of late. Make sure to check it out!

And lastly a quote regarding a 19 year old's, John Teague, political views:
"Obama's speech skillz never fail to amaze. A good address overall, I think!"
And when someone questions John's president:
"Lolling* at the guy above me really hard."
If this is our future, I am really afraid...

*"Lolling" - Laugh Out Loud Louding?!? Really? Is that even spelled properly?

Happy (insert holiday here) - Issue #5

It's holiday season. I've been running into a few familiar faces from high school. Always weird! Other then holi-daze bringing out the crazy folks... it seems to produce good web videos.

Osiris - Sean Burns from Osiris BMX on Vimeo.

Other then that, Issue #5 has been in the works. I was going to do a New Years release. But that's tomorrow, and well... it's not gonna happen. Instead I'm thinking of doing something around my birthday. I usually take it real mellow, but I'm thinking a BBQ @ Skatepark? I'll hand out some zines, stickers, maybe even hand-me down bike parts. I'll still pondering this one... I'll keep this filled with updates! The date would be Jan 30th, 2010.

Also, just a heads up on a few things.
Prashant just released the new Yo, Sick! Check it out here!
Nick just released Issue #6 along with an awesome shirt. Get that here!
The Defgrip store has some new additions. Check it out!
